Water concessionaire for the West Zone, Maynilad inaugurated last April 8, 2019 a new water treatment plant that aims to address the water shortage in Metro Manila and nearby areas in Cavite. The inauguration of the much-awaited Putatan Treatment Plant II was led by no less than the Chairman of the MVP Group of Companies, Mr. Manny V. Pangilinan. The Putatan Water Treatment plant will produce 100 MLD and will benefit one million customers. The facility will treat water coming from Laguna Lake and will use new technologies such as large-scale ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis to make the water potable. Those who attended were the MWSS Corporate Office Administrator, PDDG Reynaldo V. Velasco (Ret.), Muntinlupa Representative, Hon. Rufino B. Biazon, Representative of the 2nd District of Quezon City, Hon. Winston Castelo, Representative of the 1st District of Marikina City, Hon. Bayani F. Fernando, and Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Jorge Moragas Sanchez. Afterwards, a short tour of the water treatment plant was conducted for the benefit of the attendees. The water treatment plant will increase capacity in phases until it reaches the 150-MLD capacity later this year.
