On 31 July to 04 August 2023, MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) Technical Assistant (TA) for Administration and Legal Affairs, and Gender Focal Point System Technical Working Group (GFPS-TWG) member Ms. Patricia Paula A. Seriritan represented the Office as one of the presenting authors at the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) 2023 Conference held at the University of the Philippines – Diliman, Quezon City.
TA Seriritan’s presentation titled, “Gender Mainstreaming for Planning and Policymaking in the Water Sector: The Case of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office,” was among the accepted contributions at the conference’s Gender, Diversity, and Equity track.
In her discussion, she emphasized how the MWSS RO has been actively promoting gender equality and women empowerment by integrating a Gender and Development (GAD) perspective into all its programs, projects, and activities. This is achieved through the provision of policies and enabling mechanisms that institutionalize gender mainstreaming efforts, ensuring equal opportunities and participation for both women and men. TA Seriritan also highlighted the Office’s initiatives, including the allocation of adequate logistics for conducting gender-responsive activities within the organization’s regular programs, as well as the incorporation of a gender perspective in the design and implementation of plans and programs to fulfill organizational mandates.
The IASIA 2023 was organized by the International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS-IISA) in close collaboration with the University of the Philippines System, UP-NCPAG, Philippine Society for Public Administration, Eastern Regional Organization for Public Administration Inc., and the United Nations Development Programme – UNDP.
