Through the initiative of the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) Gender and Development (GAD) Committee; seventeen (17) representatives from the MWSS RO participated in a 3-hour GAD compliance training on “The Law and Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the Safe Spaces Act, Republic Act (R.A.) 11313;” which was administered by the Center for Global Best Practices on 15 October 2020.
The said webinar aimed to guide government institutions in aligning and mainstreaming its mandatory GAD code with the new law and its IRR that took effect on 15 March 2020. It discussed all aspects of the Safe Spaces Act, including actions punishable under this; liabilities of individuals and institutions; development of a code of conduct; investigation mechanisms; preventive measures; remedies; and valuable advice to promote public safety and well-being, as envisioned in this law.
The MWSS RO, through its GAD Committee, will continue to develop and implement policies and guidelines towards fostering a more gender-sensitive and responsive workplace.
