The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Committee, held the “GAD Kapihan: Consultation and Sharing of Best Practices on Mainstreaming GAD Activities” on 21 July 2022, in line with the the Office’s 25th Anniversary celebration.

The “GAD Kapihan” served as a venue for consultation, network-building, and sharing of knowledge about mainstreaming GAD activities. MWSS RO, Commission on Audit, Quezon City Gender Council, National Housing Authority, Manila Water, and Maynilad representatives explained their best practices in continuously promoting gender equality and women empowerment.

Prior to this, the MWSS RO also joined in the celebration of Pride Month last June. Officials, employees, and stakeholders actively participated in learning and development seminars and activities that aimed to raise awareness on various concepts and concerns related to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE). These include an orientation on Quezon City Ordinance No. 2357 or the “Gender-Fair Ordinance,” and various seminars about the health and well-being of members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

In partnership with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), MWSS RO employees and stakeholder representatives also attended film showings featuring local and foreign movies about the LGBTQIA+ sector. A tie-dye t-shirt making workshop was also held to celebrate the colors of Pride.

Moreover, a GAD Committee Planning Session and Workshop was conducted from 22 to 24 June to discuss and identify new programs and/or projects based on the gender needs and issues raised during the 2021 GAD Survey, and to asses the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) through the use of the functionality tool provided by the Philippine Commission on Women.
