The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) said, in a press conference last January 26, that it did not violate any process pertaining to agreements with its two concessionaires, Manila Water Company Inc. (East Zone) and Maynilad Water Services Inc. (West Zone).

MWSS RO Chief Regulator Joel C. Yu said, “We follow the process. We honor the contract. The notion that we do not follow the contract, is at the very least, unfair.” He added that the rates set by MWSS, as guided by its own charter, should always be just and equitable. The government agency is resolute in promoting public interests.
