Aiming to help consumers become more aware of their basic rights and responsibilities, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) initiated the information caravan on water quality, billing and metering on Wednesday, 22 October 2014 at the Arroceros Business Area, Ermita, Manila.
Chief Regulator Joel Yu said that MWSS-RO Public Information Program was rolled out by the Customer Service Regulation (CSR) Area to disseminate accurate, timely and indispensable information in response to the pressing need of the consumers of safe and potable water supply as well as to educate them on different billing and metering concerns.
Deputy Administrator for CSR Vincent Pepito Yambao, Jr. said the information caravan undertaken by the MWSS-RO discussed the Drinking Water Standards set in the Philippine National Standard for Drinking Water. It also focused on guidelines, procedures and policies governing billing and rate classification for individual, clustered, bulk, high-rise buildings and other multiple dwellings.
Yambao, in his opening remarks issued a renewed and fervent appeal to the participating consumers and concerned Maynilad officials for cooperation as the MWSS-RO continues to address the problems concerning water and sewerage services
Engr. Randolph Marcial, CSR Metering Efficiency Department Manager, Principal Chemist Ms. Isabel Bagaporo and Mr. Charlie Espallardo of CSR led the presentations, followed by an open forum to facilitate clarification and allow the customers to voice out their concerns and queries.
Over 150 customers from different Barangays covered by Sampaloc Business Area of Maynilad Water Services, Inc (Maynilad) including representatives from concerned Barangay Councils participated in the activity.
