HISTORIC WIN: The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) has been named the “Public Water Agency of the Year” at the 2023 Global Water Awards. This marks the first time that a Philippine government institution has received such a prestigious award, which is accorded to “the governmental agency or public body that made the biggest difference to water and wastewater service provision and utility management.”

The award was presented to MWSS RO Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty during a ceremony held on 09 May 2023, at the Global Water Summit in Berlin, Germany. Chief Regulator Ty was among the distinguished participants in the summit, which carried the theme “Creating a Climate for Growth”.

Established in 2006 by Global Water Intelligence (GWI), the Global Water Awards recognize the most important achievements in the international water industry within several categories. The awards reward initiatives in the water, wastewater, and desalination sectors that are moving the industry forward through improved operating performance, innovative technology adoption, and sustainable financial models.
