The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO), headed by Chief Regulator Atty. Patrick Lester N. Ty, participated in the kick off event for the “Adopt-an-Estero” project in San Juan River — a vital part of Metro Manila’s river systems and a major tributary of the Pasig River.

The said event, which was held on 27 January 2021 in Brgy. Addition Hills, San Juan City; highlighted activities that aimed to eliminate odor and decrease the coliform count in creeks:

1) activation of the flow improvement strategy at Ermitanyo Creek, which is expected to ensure water flow even during the dry season; and

2) ceremonial dropping of Mabuhay Balls — ball-formed mixtures filled with microorganisms, which are supposed to consume harmful bacteria in Maytunas Creek.

The MWSS RO lauds this concerted effort towards raising community awareness and promoting citizen participation in creating cleaner and greener waterways. The agency trusts that stakeholders from both the public and private sectors will continue working together towards creating and sustaining a clean and safe environment for the welfare of our future generations.
