On 29 September 2020, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO), led by Chief Regulator Atty. Patrick Lester N. Ty, participated in the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) among the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), partner-agencies, and Local Government Unit (LGU) leaders for the “Adopt-An-Estero” Project. The event was held at the MWSS Multi-purpose Hall.
The said MOA signing focused on the rehabilitation of San Juan River and its tributaries to improve its water quality.
The “Adopt-An-Estero” Project aims to institutionalize the best practices in sanitation and solid waste management especially among the estero communities; and develop and implement programs that will help minimize pollution in our water bodies and reduce water-borne diseases and prolonged floodings.
In his speech, Chief Regulator Ty stressed the importance of citizen participation and community involvement in creating a clean, healthy, and safe environment for the benefit of our future generations.
The MWSS RO trusts that our estero communities, donor-partners, LGUs, and other government agencies who are involved in this endeavor will operationalize the program effectively and efficiently; and that through this partnership between the government and the public, we will be able to sustain and benefit from a clean estero in the years to come.
