About the PCDr:
Maynilad’s Bulk Water Supply Project:
On 29 August 2023, Maynilad Water Services, Inc.(Maynilad) applied for the MWSS RO’s approval of the 1) 20 million liters of water per day (MLD) Modular Treatment Plant using ceramic ultrafiltration technology, and 2) sourcing 192 MLD from the Wawa Bulk Water Supply Project. These projects were collectively referred to as Bulk Water Supply Project.
To act on the application of Maynilad for the MWSS RO’s approval of the Project, the Office created a Technical Working Group (TWG) to review the various components of the Project and its impact on customers and other stakeholders within the West Concession Area. Part of the task of the MWSS RO, through the TWG, is to present to the public the findings and recommendations relative to the proposed Project.
Maynilad’s Plan to Enhance its Lifeline Discounts for Low-Consuming Customers:
After initial consultation with the MWSS RO, Maynilad is set to implement the application-based Enhanced Lifeline Discount Program by January 2024. To serve more marginalized customers, the Program now has two categories of Lifeline Customers: Low-income, and Regular. Beginning November 2023, the Concessionaire will accept and process applications for the Program.
As part of its mandate, the MWSS RO aims to inform concerned stakeholders about this Program. Hence, disseminating information about the Enhanced Lifeline Discount Program will be a part of the PCDr.
Objectives of the PCDr:
The PCDr aims to provide the public information on Maynilad’s Bulk Water Supply Project, and Enhanced Lifeline Discount Program; gather inputs from stakeholders, and elicit comments and suggestions on improving services in relation to the Project/Program; and
address stakeholder issues and concerns.
