The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) will engage a complete team of technical experts to work with the brisk development and completion of its Quality Management System (QMS) certifiable to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2008.

Chief Regulator Joel Yu said that bringing together such experienced and professional team of consultants will give the agency confidence to complete its draft QMS Manual by the end of the year.

“We will engage and secure comprehensive and capable team of experts who will advise and assist us with fast-moving development of a QMS Manual certifiable to ISO 9001:2008 for the provision of MWSS-RO,” Yu narrated.

The development of QMS for MWSS-RO aims to develop a guidance document and the adaptation of relevant ISO management system and standards to develop a culture of quality and integrity in governance characterized by citizen-focused and well-performing government organization to facilitate the establishment of ISO 9001:2008.

“The MWSS is in the process of developing QMS Manual and actively advancing the discussions with finalization of the said draft manual and ISO Certification before end of December 2016,” Yu added.

The advancement of MWSS-RO-QMS also intends to enhance the understanding and appreciation of employees on the principles and requirements of ISO 9001:2008 Quality. The goal is to develop the capabilities of key officers and staff in preparing for and sustaining the ISO 9001:2008 Certification.

The ISO 9001-2008 Certification is issued to companies which pass third-party audit and are able to sufficiently demonstrate compliance with specific requirement for quality management.
