To ensure compliance with the local and national quality standards, the Karangalan 6 STP uses a bio-contact aeration tank in wastewater treatment. It also has a separate sewer system wherein sewer lines are directly connected to houses and establishments to convey wastewater to treatment facilities.
Wastewater from households and other establishments are collected and treated by STPs to remove contaminants before it is released back into the environment. The treatment involves processes that change the physical, chemical or biological, and radiological composition of wastewater to reduce or prevent pollution.
The MWSS RO monitors the compliance of these STPs with the local and national standards on wastewater treatment to protect the health and safety of the public and the environment, especially our water resources.
