The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO)’s STP of the Week is the Pineda Sewage Treatment Plant.
The Pineda STP is one of the three initiatives under the Riverbanks Sewerage System. It is being operated by Manila Water.
Wastewater from households and other establishments are collected and treated by STPs to remove contaminants before it is released back into the environment. The treatment involves processes that change the physical, chemical or biological, and radiological composition of wastewater to reduce or prevent pollution.
The MWSS RO monitors the compliance of these STPs with the local and national standards on wastewater treatment to protect the health and safety of the public and the environment, especially our water resources.
