The MWSS Regulatory Office‘s Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of the Week is the Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant. This STP is being operated by Maynilad Water Services, Inc.

The Tondo Sewage Pumping Plant is certified under ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System), ISO 140001:2015 (Environmental Management System), OHSA 18001:2007 (Health and Safety Management System), and ISO 50001:2011 (Energy Management System). It serves 714,800 residents of the City of Manila.

Wastewater from households and other establishments are collected and treated by STPs to remove contaminants before it is released back into the environment. The treatment involves processes that change the physical, chemical or biological, and radiological composition of wastewater to reduce or prevent pollution.

The MWSS RO monitors the compliance of these STPs with the local and national standards on wastewater treatment to protect the health and safety of the public and the environment, especially our water resources.
