On 07 July 2023, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) took part in Maynilad Water Services, Inc.‘s “Plant for Life” Tree Planting Kick-off at the La Mesa Nature Reserve, Quezon City. Deputy Administrator (DA) for Administration and Legal Affairs Atty. Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena and Senior Public Utilities Regulation Officer and Environmental Committee Chairperson Engr. Renato L. Rodriguez represented the Office in the said activity that aims to make a positive impact to the environment by promoting reforestation efforts.
In her message of support, DA Orocio-Isorena lauded Maynilad for its steadfast actions in advocating environmental protection and preservation. She also emphasized the MWSS RO’s programs for protecting critical watersheds that supply water to Metro Manila and adjoining provinces of Rizal and Cavite. The MWSS RO committed to plant 26,000 seedlings this year in support of the Annual Million Tree Challenge (AMTC)—a watershed rehabilitation project spearheaded by the MWSS Corporate Office (CO) and the Million Trees Foundation (MTFI).
Maynilad’s “Plant for Life” is also in line with the AMTC, which aims to plant and nurture 10 Million more trees by 2030 to aid in the continuous rehabilitation of the seven critical watersheds: La Mesa, Ipo, Angat, Umiray, Laguna Lake, Upper Marikina, and Kaliwa.
