On 06 April 2022, MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) Chief Regulator Atty. Patrick Lester N. Ty took part in the “Country Policy Dialogue on Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS)” organized by the Asian Development Bank Institute, Stanford University, and Gates Foundation.
During the session on “Accountability Mechanism and Institutional Arrangements for CWIS,” Chief Regulator Ty discussed the MWSS RO regulatory framework for sewerage and sanitation, as well as the role of the MWSS RO in monitoring the compliance of Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. with their contractual obligations and legislative franchise requirements, in order to ensure that all customers get access to inclusive sewerage and sanitation services.
Chief Regulator Ty also highlighted the efforts of the MWSS RO and the two Concessionaires in expanding and improving sewerage and sanitation services within the Concession Areas by exploring and adopting other globally recognized technologies and innovative practices.
