On 26 October 2022, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) conducted the “Public Information Drive (PIDr) on the Rebate Program for Affected Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad) Customers within the Supply Zone of Putatan Water Treatment Plant (PWTP).”

The said PIDr was held at the Philamlife Village Dazo Function Hall, Pamplona Dos, Las Piñas City.

In his opening message, MWSS RO Chief Regulator Atty. Patrick Lester N. Ty gave a brief background on the PIDr, which served as a platform for discussing the PHP 9,264,358 penalty imposed by the MWSS RO on Maynilad for its unusual and prolonged water service interruptions within the supply zone of its PWTP from May to July 2022. The Rebate Program covered parts of Metro Manila (Parañaque, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa) and Cavite Province (Bacoor, Imus, Cavite, Rosario, and Noveleta).

MWSS RO Technical Regulation Area (TRA) Department Manager (DM) for Operations Monitoring Joel A. Dominguez provided more information on the nature, scope, and other details of the implementation of the Rebate Program. He also discussed remedial actions and long-term solutions to address the PWTP supply issue.

Meanwhile, MWSS RO Deputy Administrator (DA) for Administration and Legal Affairs (ALA) and Gender and Development Committee Chairperson Atty. Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena also discussed the need for a gender-responsive approach to the provision of water, sewerage, and sanitation services.

During the Open Forum, participants were given the opportunity to raise their questions and concerns regarding the Rebate Program.

Las Piñas City Official Representative Dr. August Michael B. Basangan then delivered a message of support from the City Government; and MWSS RO DA for Customer Service Regulation Mr. Lee Robert M. Britanico gave his closing remarks to conclude the PIDr.
