On 10 November 2023, MWSS Regulatory Office Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty and Deputy Administrator for Administration and Legal Affairs (ALA-DA) and Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS) Chairperson Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena, led the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the MWSS RO and the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies . The MOU signifies the partnership between the two institutions to bring Gender and Development (GAD) initiatives to the forefront and conduct the Sex Disaggregated Water Data Survey (SDWDS).
The SDWDS project aims to provide baseline water statistics within the Concession Area, which covers Metro Manila and parts of the provinces of Rizal and Cavite. The information will then be used to provide gender-responsive water and wastewater services, bridging gender gaps within the water sector.
In his message of support, Chief Regulator Ty emphasized the crucial role of women as key stakeholders in water management. He highlighted that this project is geared towards empowering women for their role and contribution in the field of water, ultimately improving the overall well-being of customers through inclusive projects that address the unique needs of different genders.
