On 19 and 20 September, the MWSS Regulatory Office (MWSS RO) Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) represented the agency at the 7th International Conference on Gender and Sexuality 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The international conference, which carried the theme “From Policy to Practice: Seizing Opportunities to Advance Gender Equality, Sexual and Gender Diversity,” aimed to elevate the global community of researchers, scholars, and advocates by showcasing the latest trends and challenges in the field of gender and sexuality. Organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM) Research and Development team and international experts, the conference adhered to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines and promoted collaborations among industry, academia, and policymakers.
MWSS RO GFPS Chairperson and Deputy Administrator (DA) for Administration and Legal Affairs (ALA-DA) Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena and ALA Technical Assistant (ALA-TA) Patricia Paula A. Seriritan served as presenters during the event, focusing on the gender-water nexus. ALA-DA Orocio-Isorena presented “Gender and Water: Unveiling Gender Dynamics in Water Access and Use in the Philippines: The 2023 Sex-Disaggregated Water Data Project.”
Meanwhile, ALA-TA Seriritan was awarded “Session Best Presentation” for her discussion titled “Gender Mainstreaming in the Water Sector: Strengthening Sex-Disaggregated Data Collection.”
