On 20 November 2024, the MWSS Regulatory Office and Manila Water recognized Local Government Units (LGUs) for their continued support for environmental protection advocacy through proper wastewater management. Several LGUs were honored the Toka Award “Katoka for Desludging,” recognizing their invaluable contributions to advancing this initiative.

This recognition is part of Manila Water’s “Toka Toka Program”—a movement promoting awareness of used water management and its impact on rivers and waterways.

In his message, MWSS RO Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty encouraged individuals and organizations to engage in sustainability efforts, particularly waterway rehabilitation and watershed protection. He also expressed the Office’s deepest appreciation for all “kasanggas” partaking in the collaborative effort in support of this cause.

For years, the MWSS RO has highlighted the importance of efficient and sustainable water, sewerage, and sanitation programs that safeguard public health and protect the environment.
