On 11 and 18 October, and 21 November 2024, the MWSS Regulatory Office spearheaded a series of tree planting activities at the Ipo Dam Watershed in Norzagaray, Bulacan, and in San Ysiro, Antipolo City, Rizal as part of its “27K Trees for 27 Years” initiative.
This year’s tree planting program was made possible through the support of Maynilad Water Services, Inc.., Manila Water, Inc. University of the Philippines Upsilon Sigma Phi and Sigma Delta Phi, R.L. Foods Corp., Moonleaf Tea Shop, Soroptimist International of the Americas Philippines Region clubs, IECEP NCR North-East Chapter / Quezon City Chapter, Western Union Processing Services, Inc., and Western Union Financial Services (Hong Kong), Ltd.
MWSS RO volunteers, along with representatives from these private companies and organizations, enthusiastically planted native tree seedlings to help increase the forest cover of the watersheds supporting the water supply in the Concession Areas.
The MWSS RO, together with its partners, has committed to planting 27,000 seedlings as part of its 27th anniversary celebration. These tree planting activities were conducted in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bulacan, Briquettors Association of the Philippines, Inc., and Bantay Gubat.
The MWSS RO encourages individuals and other organizations to participate in tree planting initiatives to protect the environment, particularly our water resources. Organizations interested in participating in MWSS RO’s future tree planting activities may send an email to the Public Information Department at pid@ro.mwss.gov.ph.
The MWSS RO also reminds everyone to conserve water in their daily activities to ensure a sustainable future for all.
