From June to August 2024, the MWSS RO Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Point System (GFPS) actively participated in several GAD activities, reinforcing the agency’s commitment to gender equality and women empowerment.

From 23 to 26 June, the MWSS RO GFPS joined the Women Champions in the Water Sector Fellowship Program organized by Angat Buhay in collaboration with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Manila Water Foundation, and the Water Alliance. The event, which brought together aspiring women leaders in the water sector, aimed to empower women in water governance by providing vital resources, networks, and opportunities for professional growth.

Deputy Administrator for Administration and Legal Affairs and Chairperson of the MWSS RO GFPS Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena, served as a resource speaker on 24 June, sharing her expertise on Women and Water.

On 04 July, the MWSS RO GFPS also took part in TransCo’s “Empowering Energy: Benchmarking Gender and Development Best Practices” event. Several government agencies recognized as GADtimpala Awardees by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) were present to share their successful GAD practices.

These agencies participated in a knowledge exchange, fostering a collaborative environment aimed at advancing gender mainstreaming across the sector.

Finally, from 30 July to 01 August, representatives of the MWSS RO GFPS attended the 2024 Central Luzon Association of Water Districts (CLAWD) Convention, with the theme “Continuous Learnings in Addressing Water District Concerns.”

On 01 August, Deputy Administrator for Customer Service Regulation Area, GFPS Vice Chairperson, and Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) MWSS RO Chapter Head Lee Robert M. Britanico, delivered a presentation titled “Diversity in the Workplace.” The presentation highlighted best practices in gender mainstreaming, focusing on key aspects such as policies, people, enabling mechanisms, and various programs, activities, and projects implemented to foster gender equity in the workplace.

These events showcase the MWSS RO’s continued dedication to gender equality and inclusivity. Moving forward, the Office will continue to champion projects that mainstream and strengthen GAD in the water sector.💧
