On 21 March 2025, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO)—represented by Deputy Administrator (DA) for Customer Service Regulation (CSRA-DA) Lee Robert M. Britanico and DA for Technical Regulation (TRA-DA) Evelyn B. Agustin—hosted a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to support efforts in updating the Philippines’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and enhancing climate action strategies, particularly in the waste sector.
Together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Climate Change Division (CCD) and Concessionaires Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services, Inc., the data-gathering activity, led by National Expert on Waste Management Dr. Evelyn B. Taboada, focused on how organizations can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through effective septage and sewerage management.
As part of the initiative, participants also visited the University of the Philippines (UP) Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to observe its operations.
This initiative aligns with the country’s broader climate action efforts to mitigate climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to global initiatives aimed at limiting global warming.
