On 22 April 2025, students of the University of the Philippines-National College of Public Administration and Governance (UP-NCPAG) participated in a Lakbay Aral jointly organized by the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) through its Gender and Development Focal Point System, Manila Water, and the UP-NCPAG Student Council.
The initiative aimed to enhance awareness of the processes and operations involved in delivering safe drinking water and environmentally sound sewerage services.
During the opening program, MWSS RO Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty provided a brief overview of the Office’s history, mandate, powers, and functions. He highlighted how the Office safeguards the interests of the consuming public by monitoring the Concessionaires’ compliance with their contractual obligations.
Deputy Administrator (DA) for Administration and Legal Affairs (ALA) Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena also presented the diverse range of job opportunities in the water sector, particularly for students of public administration.
The student-participants visited the Balara Treatment Plant 2 (BTP 2), which is operated and managed by Manila Water. To enrich the experience, Manila Water also provided a virtual wastewater tour, offering a comprehensive overview of both water and wastewater services.
The MWSS RO remains committed to supporting academic development and welcomes students and institutions who are interested in learning more about the Office’s mandate and advocacies.
