As part of its commitment to advancing Gender and Development (GAD), the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) through its Gender and Development Focal Point System (GFPS), continues to initiate and participate in various programs that promote knowledge exchange and strengthen its GAD efforts, thereby promoting gender-responsive governance across sectors.
On 15 May 2025, the MWSS RO GFPS hosted a benchmarking activity titled “GAD Mainstreaming in the Water Sector” for the National Children’s Hospital. The Office’s delegation was led by Office of the Chief Regulator – Public Information Department Manager Joan Michelle S. Antonio, who also serves as a GFPS Executive Committee Member. She was joined by Administration and Legal Affairs Technical Assistant Patricia Paula A. Seriritan, who is also a member of the GFPS TWG, and GAD Specialist Yves S. Balerio.
The initiative aimed to foster the collaborative exchange of successful GAD programs, activities, and projects. The MWSS RO GFPS also showcased its best practices in GAD mainstreaming, with emphasis on the MWSS RO’s recognition as a GADtimpala Awardee —an honor conferred by the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) in 2023 for its exemplary efforts in promoting gender-responsive programs within the water sector.
Earlier this year, on 12 March, MWSS RO Deputy Administrator for Administration and Legal Affairs and GFPS Chairperson Claudine B. Orocio-Isorena was among the featured resource speakers and panelists at the The American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) event titled “Collaboration for Change: Entrepreneurs and Government for a More Inclusive Future.”
In her presentation “Advancing Inclusion: The MWSS RO’s Commitment to Gender and Development,” DA Orocio-Isorena shared the Office’s best practices in terms of policies, programs, and mechanisms that promote gender equality, diversity, and inclusion. During the forum, she and fellow panelists also highlighted the vital role of women entrepreneurs in economic development and the importance of inclusive governance.
