On 17 December 2024, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) and DOST Philippines – Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) signed a Memorandum of Agreement to formalize their partnership in improving water services in the Concession Area.
MWSS RO Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty led the ceremonial signing, together with DOST-ITDI Director Dr. Annabelle V. Briones.
Under this agreement, the DOST-ITDI will assist the MWSS RO in obtaining accreditation, enabling the Office to independently and effectively test and calibrate any brand of domestic meter up to 40 millimeters in diameter using its own water meter test bench. This will allow the MWSS RO to certify the quality and accuracy of Manila Water’s and Maynilad’s water meters prior to installation; ensure that the Concessionaires’ water meters provide precise measurements and recording of customers’ water consumption; and independently investigate and validate concerns regarding customers’ water meters.
The MWSS RO and the DOST-ITDI are driven by the shared goal of improving the quality of life of stakeholders through science, technology, and innovation.
