On 18 February 2025, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO), led by Chief Regulator Patrick Lester N. Ty, joined Manila Water‘s Solar Switching Ceremony—the energization of Phase 1 of its solar project pipeline.

Held at the San Juan Pumping Station in Mandaluyong City, the event signifies Manila Water’s commitment to environmental protection, particularly the responsible use of energy.

According to the East Zone Concessionaire, this solar project has a consolidated capacity of 2.5 megawatts peak (MWp) across three facilities: San Juan Pumping Station, Cardona Water Treatment Plant, and East La Mesa Water Treatment Plant. It is expected to generate approximately 3.65 million kilowatt- hours (kWh) annually, which will reduce the company’s overall electricity demand.

Moreover, the project is expected to cut 2,576 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

For years, the MWSS RO has highlighted the importance of efficient and sustainable water, sewerage, and sanitation programs that safeguard public health and protect the environment.
