WATCH: PUBLIC INFORMATION DRIVE ON THE REBATE PROGRAM FOR MAYNILAD CUSTOMERS AFFECTED BY WATER QUALITY FAILURE INCIDENTS IN CALOOCAN CITY

On 25 June 2024, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) held a “Public Information Drive on the Rebate Program for Maynilad Water Services, Inc. Customers Affected by Water Quality Failure Incidents” at the V Gardens Events Place, Dagat-dagatan, Caloocan City.

Concerned local government units, affected customers, media partners, and other stakeholders actively participated in the said activity.

About the PIDr:

During the second quarter of 2024, the MWSS RO decided to impose a financial penalty on Maynilad Water Services, Inc. in the form of bill rebates to affected customers for the water quality failure incident within Maynilad’s service area, specifically the failure in Total Coliform at a Regulatory Sampling Point (RSP) supplied by Caloocan Pumping Station and Reservoir (PSR). After weeks of deliberation, the MWSS RO finalized the amount of the penalty at two million thirty-eight thousand three hundred ninety-six pesos and fifty centavos (PhP 2,038,396.50) on 28 May 2024.

During the PIDr, the MWSS RO explained the nature, scope, and other details of the implementation of the Rebate Program to the affected customers.

By next month, 3,841 affected Water Service Connections (WSCs) from fourteen (14) barangays in Caloocan City will each receive a rebate amounting to PhP 530.69.
