As part of the stakeholder engagement activities slated for its 25th Anniversary Celebration, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) held the “Lakbay-aral for Local Government Officials” last 11 and 13 July 2022. The project was organized in cooperation with concessionaires Maynilad Water Services, Inc. and Manila Water.
Twenty two (22) representatives from the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the West Zone, and thirty four (34) representatives from the LGUs in the East Zone joined the MWSS RO Lakbay-aral – an initiative that aimed to heighten consumer awareness on the processes and operations involved in the delivery of safe drinking water supply and environmentally-safe sewerage services.
During the opening program, MWSS RO Chief Regulator Atty. Patrick Lester N. Ty gave a brief background on the Office’s mandate, powers and functions, and water and wastewater management initiatives. He emphasized the importance of water conservation, and how social media can be utilized by the LGUs in promoting the responsible use of water to their constituents.
Participants visited major water and wastewater facilities in Metro Manila that are being operated and managed by Maynilad and Manila Water. They visited the La Mesa Compound; La Mesa Treatment Plant 2, Maynilad WATER Lab, and Veterans Village Water Reclamation Facility in the West Zone; and the East La Mesa Treatment Plant and Marikina North Sewage Treatment Plant in the East Zone.
The MWSS RO is grateful for the support of the various local government units within the Concession Areas for this worthwhile project.
