The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) features the East Avenue Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) as the STP of the Week. This STP is being operated by Manila Water Company, Inc.
STPs treat collected wastewater from households and other establishments in order to remove contaminants before it is released into the environment. The treatment involves processes that change the physical, chemical or biological, and radiological composition of wastewater to reduce or prevent pollution.
The East Avenue STP was established to improve wastewater management in Barangays Central, Teachers Village, and Kamias in Quezon City; decrease pollution in the area; and ensure proper treatment of wastewater before it is discharged back to creeks and rivers.
