The MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) features the Road 5 Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) as the STP of the Week. This STP is being operated by Manila Water Company, Inc.
STPs treat collected wastewater from households and other establishments in order to remove contaminants before it is released into the environment. The treatment involves processes that change the physical, chemical or biological, and radiological composition of wastewater to reduce or prevent pollution.
The Road 5 STP was established to increase the coverage and effectiveness of sewerage services in the East Zone Concession Area; reduce pollution caused by untreated wastewater; and improve the water quality being discharged from the treatment plant to receiving bodies of water.
