In November 2021, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) held a series of tree planting activities at the Ipo Dam Watershed in Norzagaray, Bulacan. This year, the MWSS RO has committed to plant 23,000 seedlings in support of the Expanded National Greening Program of the Philippine government and the Annual Million Tree Challenge (AMTC) of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System – Corporate Office (MWSS CO).
This initiative was conducted in cooperation with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) – Bulacan, Briquettors Association of the Philippines, Inc., and Bantay Gubat, and in partnership with the University of the Philippines (UP) Upsilon Sigma Phi. It aimed to contribute to the reforestation and protection of watersheds that are the major sources of water supply for the Metropolis.
On 14 September 2021, the MWSS RO was recognized as “Champion of Trees” – a testament to its commitment to the AMTC. (Read more: https://www.facebook.com/MWSS.RO/posts/240474541439822)
As part of its corporate social responsibility, the MWSS RO will continue to conduct and support activities that promote the protection of the environment, especially our water resources.
