From 29 November to 13 December 2021, the MWSS Regulatory Office (RO) held a Pre-Rate Rebasing Public Consultation Drive (PCDr) for the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the East and West Concession Areas.
The series of public consultations were conducted in preparation for next year’s Rate Rebasing Exercise, pursuant to the Concession Agreement entered into by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System – Corporate Office with Manila Water and Maynilad Water Services, Inc.. Rate Rebasing is a periodic performance review and general tariff adjustment, which sets the maximum rates that the Concessionaires may charge for their services.
The 2021 MWSS RO Pre-Rate Rebasing PCDr aimed to inform the Local Government Units (LGUs) on the completed and ongoing projects, programs, and plans of the Concessionaires; solicit valuable inputs from LGUs that may be incorporated in the Business Plans of the Concessionaires; and provide a venue for discussing and addressing prevailing (gender-related) issues and concerns of stakeholders on water, sewerage, and sanitation services, and for exploring good practices in providing (gender-responsive) services. It also served as a venue for recognizing LGUs with outstanding Desludging Availment Rate.
The MWSS RO thanks the water concessionaires, LGU leaders, media partners, customers, and other stakeholders who actively participated in the PCDr.
As the 2021 Freedom of Information (FOI) Champion for Government Owned and/or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs), the MWSS RO will continue to conduct public information and consultation drives to uphold its core values of participatory governance, transparency, and accountability.
